Cult of the Lamb Review

When the creators combine the incongruous, the result of their work is able to interest and be remembered for a long time. For example, a children’s cartoon and violence is Happy Tree Friends, which had a cute wrapper, but a bloody stuffing. The game Cult of the Lamb was created on a similar principle – in it we see cute little animals with impressive eyes and strange rituals in which they can really be sacrificed.

Preachers and Madness

The main character of the game is a lamb, to be more precise, a lamb, which they decided to sacrifice in the name of four bishops. But everything is not going so smoothly, the local deity brings him back to life and requires the creation of a cult in his part. Now the lamb is a prophet, and its main goal is the destruction of various heretics, including the aforementioned bishops.

The main character receives a crown, which instantly sends him to the world of the living. At first, he does not act alone, but with the help of the Rat, who previously had a crown. However, the assistant quickly realizes that the lamb is no longer so innocent and easily cracks down on opponents.

Cult of the Lamb is divided into two parts – movement through the territories of heretics and control of the settlement. The main mission is to eliminate the bishops. For these purposes, you have to visit the dungeons and collect weapons and tarot cards that fall out there. They affect different characteristics of the character.

The game does not shine with a variety of weapons. Gloves, dagger, sword and several other types are available. Each type of weapon can get an additional effect – for example, start poisoning. There are special spells for ranged combat. You can shoot, deal AoE damage, use homing charges, etc.

However, you can’t always keep your distance. Such attacks consume mana, it is restored slowly, although you can speed up the process a little with the help of a special tarot card. A significant role in the battles of evasion – you will have to perform it often.

Any sortie includes several blocks – during it you can fight with opponents, find adepts and resources. There are also random meetings – the characters are waiting for very colorful and memorable. Each race is short – takes no more than 15 minutes. In the finale, there will be a battle with the boss – you need to destroy the minions of the bishops, and only after that – themselves.

The defeat in the battle is not so critical, you will be resurrected again. Although you won’t have to die often – even on normal difficulty, the bosses are easily defeated, you won’t need to memorize their fighting style. In any case, you will return to base.

The life of a cultist

Making time for the settlement is quite interesting. There are a lot of different interesting activities that can drag out for a long time. Subordinate cultists work – build and extract resources, pray, which is important for pumping, you control the whole process. The settlement develops over time, new buildings open. Followers have several basic parameters – faith, hunger and purity. It is important to control them all so that the flock does not leave the camp. There are plenty of activities, the gameplay is very addictive.

Toward the end of the game, a number of processes can be automated and entrusted to novices. For example, adepts will learn to sow and harvest their own crops.

Over time, the tablets open, you write commandments on them – it depends on your decisions what will be the attitude towards death, the elderly, etc. You can make love and mutual respect reign in the settlement, or you can get a community of cannibals.

Sermons are needed – they pump the hero, add new effects to the weapon. Unfortunately, there is no balance between the parts of the game, it can be difficult to choose what to do. But in general – Cult of the Lamb can drag on for a long time.
